An Artistic Dial Inspired by One of the French Maison’s Most Iconic Silk Scarves
The French Maison introduced the Slim d’Hermès watch for the first time in 2015. It was designed by Philippe Delhotal, Director of Watchmaking at Hermès and the mastermind behind the "Suspended Time" mechanism ‘Le Temps Suspendu’ a complication that has become one of the brand’s signature creations. Today, the Maison unveils the latest addition to the Slim collection.
The Slim d’Hermès watch perfectly embodies the spirit of the house, with a masterful blend of disciplined design and refined elegance. With its sleek and minimalist design that merges modernity with equestrian inspiration, this new edition once again pays tribute, as the brand so often does to the silk scarf Faubourg of Dreams, which is transformed into a work of art on the dial.
The Slim d’Hermès Faubourg of Dreams comes in a polished white gold case measuring 39.5 mm in diameter, just like previous Slim models, with a slender thickness of 7.5 mm that enhances its elegance. The case is protected on both sides by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and offers water resistance up to 30 meters.
In this edition, British illustrator Stuart Patience reimagines the iconic Hermès boutique at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré as a spacecraft gliding through outer space. In a surreal and vividly executed scene, illustrations inspired by the boutique are hand-painted with precision on a sapphire crystal ring encircling the dial.
The timepiece showcases two intricate métiers d’art: miniature painting and engraving on appliqué. The dial is composed of a shimmering aventurine base, illuminated with gilded spangles and adorned with hand-painted planets and stars. Above it, a sapphire crystal ring hosts various levitating objects, rendered with delicate brushwork that add an extra dimension of wonder.
At the heart of this cosmic scene, highlighted by rich contrasts of blue and yellow, a sculpted silver horse takes center stage. Its finely faceted form is achieved through a dyeing process involving abrasion before application to the central dial. The horse’s chest is traversed by two baton-style hands indicating the hours and minutes.
Beneath the artistry lies the ultra-thin automatic caliber H1950, manufactured in Hermès’ workshops. Beating at 21,600 VPH (3 Hz), it offers a 48-hour power reserve. This micro-rotor movement has been a hallmark of the Slim d’Hermès line and has also been featured in some of the maison’s renowned pocket watches.
A deep blue alligator leather strap completes this limited edition of 24 pieces. The Slim d’Hermès Faubourg of Dreams is priced at 89,100 USD, approximately AED 327,255.
