A Stainless Steel Bezel Adorns the Dive Watch in Its New Look
Oris reintroduces the Aquis Date Relief, a confident evolution of its signature dive watch. It joins the collection following the successful redesign of the Aquis Date and brings a striking new expression to the series.
Its most distinctive feature is the stainless steel bezel, engraved with a raised minutes scale. This detail is not only functional but also adds a new tactile dimension to the watch. It stands in contrast to the smoother ceramic bezels found on other Aquis models, offering a more assertive and textured presence on the wrist.
The case of the Aquis Date Relief is crafted from multi-piece stainless steel and measures a substantial 43.50 mm in diameter. Designed to be strong and robust, the case features prominent crown guards flanking the screw-down crown. It is protected by a sapphire crystal on the dial side and a mineral glass caseback, and it offers water resistance up to 300 meters.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the unidirectional rotating bezel. Instead of using a ceramic insert, the Aquis Date Relief features a stainless steel bezel where the 60-minute dive scale is executed in relief. The numerals and markings are raised against a sandblasted, matte background, creating a striking three-dimensional effect. This intricate manufacturing technique delivers a result that is both visually impressive and satisfying to the touch.
The dial of the Aquis Date Relief is presented in a deep sunray grey, adorned with applied, pointed shield-shaped hour markers. These markers, along with the bold hour and minute hands, are filled with Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility in low-light conditions.
Adding a vibrant and playful splash of color to this otherwise monochromatic palette is the "lollipop" central seconds hand.
The date window is located at the 6 o'clock position. Its placement maintains the symmetry of the dial, and the date disc itself is rendered in a matching grey with white numerals for a seamless look.
Powering both models is the Oris Calibre 733, based on the reliable Sellita SW200-1, featuring the brand’s signature red rotor. Visible through the transparent caseback, the automatic movement offers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours and beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). It features an instantaneous date change that snaps precisely at midnight, a fine timing device for accurate regulation, and a stop-seconds or "hacking" function that allows for exact time setting.
Oris offers the Aquis Date Relief on two distinct and compelling options. The first is a vibrant red rubber strap, fitted with a stainless steel security folding clasp.
The second option is a multi-piece stainless steel bracelet. This bracelet transforms the watch, giving it a more classic and versatile appeal suitable for any occasion. The construction matches the quality of the case, with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces that complement the watch head perfectly. It secures with Oris’s folding clasp, which includes a diver’s extension system for easy adjustment over a wetsuit.
Prices are 2,400 USD which is equivalent to 9,450 AED on rubber strap. And 2,600 USD which is equivalent to 10,350 AED on a stainless steel bracelet.
