Roundup Waqt Picks the Top 3 Watches from Geneva Watch Days 2024

Over fifty luxury watch brands and numerous new editions were showcased last week at the fifth edition of Geneva Watch Days 2024. After a relatively quiet summer following the end of Watches & Wonders, Geneva Watch Days 2024 made a major splash with more brands than ever before exhibiting. We covered every detail on our platform, from novelties to interviews, as there were plenty of eye-catching watches to explore.

For those who follow the event, it can be challenging to narrow down the best editions, as the number of incredible new models can be overwhelming. This year, a record 53 brands exhibited at the tradeshow, up from just 39 last year. Waqt has selected three watches that made the biggest impact during the event.

Let’s start with the new world record for the thinnest watch in the world.

Konstantin Chaykin ThinKing 

For many years, the world’s leading watchmaking companies have been competing to produce the thinnest mechanical watches. Prestigious brands such as Piaget, Bulgari, and Richard Mille have been at the forefront of this race, with Bulgari securing a prominent position, dominating various categories. Recently, Bulgari made headlines by reintroducing its ultra-thin minute repeater during the first day of the Geneva Watch Days. 

However, a new contender has emerged from Eastern Europe. Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin unveiled a prototype that puts him at the forefront of the ultra-thin watch category. Presenting the Konstantin Chaykin ThinKing Prototype, the new world record holder for the thinnest mechanical watch. At just 1.65 mm thick, it surpasses the previous record of 1.70 mm held by Bulgari with its Octo Finissimo Ultra.

 The DB28xs Aérolite is a beautiful fusion of art and science. The case, with a superb design, measures just 38.7mm in diameter and a slim thickness of 7.4mm. The dial’s random guilloché pattern contrasts perfectly with the precise geometric lines of the Muonionalusta meteorite, showcasing De Bethune's exceptional ability to harmonize design and craftsmanship.

Breitling Unveils Its First Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Movement

Breitling has introduced its first-ever perpetual calendar chronograph movement in three of its most celebrated models: the Premier, Navitimer, and Chronomat. These timepieces are powered by the new manufacture caliber B19, marking a significant milestone for the brand as it celebrates its 140th anniversary. This achievement was unveiled during the event.

And The Navitimer is the one we choosed between the three. The Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar measures 43mm x 15.6mm (49mm lug-to-lug). While the dial layout is similar to the Premier, the Navitimer features a striking red gold dial with matching indices and includes the signature slide rule bezel. The moon phase on this model offers a more realistic depiction of the moon.
