A Color Out of the Ordinary After the Company's Collaboration with the American Football Club Inter Miami
Tudor's models typically lean towards either a sporty or military-inspired style, resulting in a somewhat limited range of designs. Among Tudor's collections, the Black Bay stands out as undoubtedly the most successful. Since its inception in 2012, this diver's watch has played a pivotal role in revitalizing the brand. It has enjoyed significant commercial success, prompting the expansion of the collection to include various complications, materials, and a wide array of colors. In 2017, Tudor introduced its inaugural Black Bay Chrono, marking a significant milestone.
In a surprising twist just prior to Watches & Wonders 2024, Tudor has unveiled the Black Bay Chrono "Pink." Departing from its usual straightforward and occasionally military-themed designs, the brand has taken a remarkable departure.
But why pink? Tudor has announced a partnership with Inter Miami FC, naming themselves the Official Timekeeper of the football team co-owned by the former English footballer David Beckham, who himself serves as an ambassador for Tudor. Notably, the team's official color is a light shade of pink. For those unfamiliar with American football, Inter Miami FC is now the home of Lionel Messi. Simultaneously, Tudor has revealed that this watch was co-created with another ambassador, Jay Chou, a Taiwanese singer and musician. The Black Bay Chrono "Pink" is intriguing precisely because of its unconventional color. Setting it apart from the typical Tudor timepiece,
So, the case measures 41 mm in width and 14.4 mm in height. The bezel insert is made of black anodized aluminum, providing a sleek aesthetic. With a water resistance of 200 meters, the case remains consistent with other watches in the Black Bay collection. It features brushed surfaces on the top, a polished chamfer along the sides of the lugs, and polished surfaces on the casebands. Topping the case is a highly domed sapphire crystal, adding to its overall appeal.
The "Pink" variant, on the other hand, features a striking shade of relatively dark pink. Executed in a matte finish with subtle graining, the dial incorporates black counters. The subdials include a 45-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock, with a white date window positioned at 6 o'clock.
Powered by the caliber MT5813. A sophisticated movement with a 70-hour power reserve, it’s an automatic, integrated chronograph movement constructed with amenities like a vertical clutch and column wheel.
The MT5813 is derived from the Breitling B01, but heavily modified by Tudor. Amongst the Tudor upgrades are a free balance wheel and a silicon hairspring.
Another distinctive feature of this model lies in its bracelet; rather than the traditional riveted Oyster-like 3-link bracelet found in the standard collection, it is adorned with a Jubilee-like bracelet.
Priced at USD 5,550, equivalent to 20,400 AED, this Pink version maintains parity with the standard model's pricing. However, the company has announced that only a limited number of examples will be produced.
