An automatic version of the PR 516 chronograph with Valjoux movement
Launched in 1965, the PR 516 became one of Tissot's icons of that era, captivating watch enthusiasts with its distinctive style and reliability. Just a few years later, the Swiss brand further elevated the PR 516's legacy with a chronograph version in 1968, marking a significant leap forward for the brand in the sports watch category.
Tissot has embraced its heritage with a modern reinterpretation of the iconic PR 516 in 2024. Beginning with the release of the manual-wound black PR 516 Chronograph in February, followed by a sleek time-and-date variant later in the year. Today the brand unveils the automatic version of the PR 516 Chronograph, featuring a striking white dial complemented by beautiful blue accents.
Just like the previous release, the watch comes in a stainless steel case with a mineral glass bezel featuring both pulsometer and tachymeter scales, along with a glass box sapphire crystal on the dial and a mineral glass caseback. The diameter remains at 41 mm, but due to the inclusion of the automatic movement, the thickness has increased by 3 mm, bringing the case's total thickness to 14 mm.
The watch features a white dial with a tricompax layout, complemented by striking blue accents. It is equipped with baton hour and minute hands, along with applied indexes, all coated with Super-LumiNova to enhance visibility in low-light conditions.
The watch is powered by the ETA/Valjoux A05.231 automatic chronograph movement, which operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers a 68-hour power reserve. It is regulated to ensure an impressive accuracy rate of ±5 seconds per day. The watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet with an integrated butterfly clasp. It joins the permanent collection with a price of EUR 2,145, which is approximately AED 8,000.
