A special edition inspired by Lamborghini's first hybrid hypercar SC63
Since 2017, Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse have forged an alliance, resulting in the highly complicated Excalibur Spider timepieces that reflect the Italian marque’s incredible sports cars. And regarding this collaboration, Mr. Gregory Bruttin, the Strategic Product Director of Roger Dubuis, explained to Waqt the benefits of this partnership and why Lamborghini was chosen in our interview with him.
Last year, this collaboration gave birth to a new timepiece, the Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph, which debuted with two editions in 2023.
Just ahead of the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans on Saturday, June 15th, Roger Dubuis celebrates its partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse, which is the motorsport division of Automobili Lamborghini. Dedicated to overseeing the brand's racing activities by unveiling a special Verde Mantis version of its Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph as the third edition in this collection.
This year, Lamborghini will compete in the Le Mans Daytona Hybrid Series with its first hypercar, the SC63. Echoing the SC63’s signature paintwork, the chronograph is packed with allusions to the hypercar.
The 45 mm case is executed in carbon fiber and features a ceramic bezel with distinct notches that characterize the Excalibur. Its black DLC titanium case back also has a sapphire crystal glass. The crown and pushers are made of titanium with a black DLC treatment and a red lacquered ring. The case is water-resistant to 100 meters.
As we have come to expect from Excalibur Spider models, the dial is open-worked. It features a striking green "Y" décor with Super-LumiNova in the center, surrounded by a double black flange made of carbon, with red and green indices and screw-like hour markers that are rhodium-plated and filled with SLN. Additionally, it has a white tachymeter scale on the inner flange.

The chronograph functions are displayed on a 120º rotating minutes counter RMC at 3 o’clock. It includes a patent-pending hand composed of three parts. These parts display the numbers 0, 1, and 2, rotating past the digits in green hue 0 to 9 to function as an analog 30-minute counter. The result is an intuitive and easy-to-read counter with a highly complex construction.
The date window at 6 o’clock is almost hidden within the open-worked dial. The white gold hour and minute hands have black PVD coating with red tips and SLN, complemented by a red central seconds hand.
Furthermore, there is a tilted balance wheel at 9 o’clock, angled at 12°. According to the company, this 12° tilt provides better protection from shocks and raises the inertia level of the balance wheel to the same standard as a tourbillon. The watch also features an antimagnetic silicon escapement wheel coated with DLC.
Powered by the calibre RD780, which boasts two patents pending for the second braking system and the rotating minute counter, this automatic movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a 72-hour power reserve. As a Poinçon de Genève certified watch, it features top-tier finishings. The five-arm rotor, inspired by Lamborghini’s five-spoke wheels, deviates from the appearance of a traditional winding weight.
The watch features a black rubber strap with a green inlay and a triple-folding titanium clasp treated with DLC. This edition of the Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph is limited to just 88 pieces and is priced at EUR 95,833, which is equivalent to 352,000 AED.
