In collaboration with the American custom car brand Mooneyes
Seiko launches the Seiko 5 Sports Mooneyes Limited Edition SRPL39 in partnership with the iconic custom car brand Mooneyes. This timepiece blends Seiko’s renowned watchmaking craftsmanship with Mooneyes’ hot rod-inspired design ethos. Mooneyes, a brand rooted in Southern California’s car culture, was founded by Dean Moon in 1950 and has since become synonymous with racing and automotive customization. After its revival in Japan in the 1990s, the brand continues to be an ambassador for American automotive culture, particularly hot rods, which are American cars that have been rebuilt or modified with large engines.
The watch comes in a stainless steel case that pays homage to the classic Seiko 5 Sports SKX design, measuring 42.5mm in diameter and 13.4mm in thickness. Its brushed and polished surfaces create a refined finish, while the unidirectional bezel, made from transparent acrylic, showcases a black-and-yellow racing-inspired design. A push-pull crown at 4 o'clock, accompanied by crown guards, ensures ease of use, while the caseback features a yellow glass with the Mooneyes logo.
The vibrant yellow dial features multiple Mooneyes logos printed transparently across it. Applied baton hour markers, along with hands filled with LumiBrite (Seiko's luminous paint), ensure legibility in low light. The dial also features a day-date window at 3 o'clock.
The watch is powered by Caliber 4R36, an in-house automatic movement that operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz) and provides a power reserve of 41 hours. It comes with two strap options: a three-link stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp and an alternative yellow-and-black striped nylon strap featuring the Mooneyes logo.
The watch is limited to just 1,500 pieces, priced at EUR 450, which is approximately AED 1,800.
