Introducing The New Limited Edition Opus Purple Rain from Chronoswiss
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
Honoring the 30 anniversary of the Opus collection with a bold purple hue
Let's go back to the mid-1990s, when most chronographs still featured closed dials, Chronoswiss took a different path. In 1995, the brand unveiled the Opus, the first skeletonized automatic chronograph, redefining how mechanical chronographs could be experienced. It wasn’t just about what a watch could do, but how it made you feel when you saw it in motion.
In 2023, Chronoswiss introduced a titanium variant of this groundbreaking watch, offering a lighter and more comfortable case. Now, the indie Swiss brand expands the collection once again with the Opus Purple Rain, a limited-edition timepiece crafted in titanium and finished in vivid purple to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this iconic line.
The new watch is housed in a 41mm Grade 5 titanium case, enhanced with a striking ultraviolet CVD coating. Measuring 14.8mm thick, the case combines brushed and polished finishes with the brand’s signature details, an onion-shaped crown, a knurled bezel, and a curved sapphire crystal. It also features screw-in lugs secured with the patented Autobloc system. Flip the watch over, and a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the finely finished movement within. Despite its skeletonized design, the watch offers water resistance to 100 meters, ensuring everyday versatility.
The skeletonized dial is coated in purple, with light playing across blackened bridges and exposed gears to create a mesmerizing contrast. It features rhodium-plated “Breguet Losange” hands, a date indicator at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, small seconds at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock.
Powering the watch is the Caliber C.741S, an automatic chronograph movement operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), with a 46-hour power reserve. Visible from both sides, the skeletonized rotor is CVD-coated and adorned with Côtes de Genève, alongside galvanic black bridges and polished screws.
The watch comes fitted with a white leather strap that transforms into vivid purple under UV light. The Opus Purple Rain is limited to just 30 pieces, honoring the 30th anniversary of the original icon. The price is AED 37,500.
