Celebrating the opening of its first overseas salon in Shanghai
Kurono Tokyo was established in 2019 by renowned independent Japanese watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, born out of his vision to explore new horizons and distinguish himself from other prominent Japanese watch brands. This year marks the brand's 5th anniversary, celebrated with an elegant commemorative timepiece. Among its notable releases earlier this year was the Special Projects Réserve de Marche ‘SENSU NOS’.
The brand is now celebrating the opening of its first overseas salon in Shanghai with the launch of the new Chronograph P1 Shanghai Special Edition, its first date-less chronograph featuring a distinctive dial design.
The watch features a polished stainless steel 316L case with a diameter of 38mm and a thickness of 11.7mm (13.5mm including the sapphire crystal). Its lug-to-lug length measures 46.8mm, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist. The timepiece is equipped with a sapphire box crystal for enhanced durability and clarity, and offers a water resistance of up to 30 meters.
The white dial is free from the distraction of a date window, offering a clean and minimalist display focused purely on timekeeping. It is encircled by a carmine colored tachymeter scale and features a small seconds sub-dial at 3 o’clock and a guilloché 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock, both in black. Polished Gothic numerals at 12 and 6 are complemented by polished leaf hands. The tips of the minute and chronograph seconds hands are bent by hand to harmonize with the curves of the dial and glass.

The Chronograph P1 is driven by a modified version of the in-house NE86 movement, tailored by Hajime Asaoka to exclude the date function. This automatic movement runs at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is paired with a black calfskin leather strap and is available in a small batch. It is priced at USD 3,590, equivalent to AED 13,200.
