A new release of the iconic Joker watch, with a skeletonized dial for the first time
The Konstantin Chaykin Manufactory was established in 2003 by the ingenious and talented Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin. Chaykin is a highly respected figure in the independent watchmaking scene, known for his innovative and creative timepieces. His creations often feature unconventional designs and complications, reflecting his deep passion for the art of watchmaking.
One of the most notable aspects of Konstantin Chaykin's work is his ability to blend traditional watchmaking techniques with modern innovation. This has resulted in a range of extraordinary timepieces that stand out in the world of haute horlogerie. Among his famous creations is the iconic Wristmons collection, and he has even collaborated with esteemed brands like Louis Erard. After bringing back the Classic Joker watch a while ago, the brand now releases the Joker Fiat Lux, another addition to the Joker series, featuring a beautiful skeletonized dial.
As for the watch specifications, it maintains those of the original Joker. It features a 42mm diameter, 12.1mm thick stainless steel case with a bezel decorated with card symbols. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating and now includes a new sapphire crystal caseback that reveals the intricate movement, replacing the solid caseback. The case has a crown at 3 o’clock for setting the minutes and hours, and another at 9 o’clock for adjusting the moon phase.
The name of the watch, "Fiat Lux," is Latin for "let there be light," which is beautifully reflected in the play of light on the skeletonized dial. The dial features an exquisite Clous de Paris pattern and the brand's logo at 12 o'clock. Time is displayed on two sub-dials with green indicator tips that resemble the Joker's eyes. The 3 o'clock sub-dial shows the minutes, while the 9 o'clock sub-dial displays the hours. Additionally, the moon phase is indicated through a mouth-shaped aperture positioned at 6 o'clock, completing the distinctive and whimsical design.
The watch is powered by the calibre K07-0, an automatic movement based on the ETA 2824-2, featuring the proprietary Joker module. It operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers a 38-hour power reserve. Additionally, it features a skeletonized rotor designed to resemble a sun, enhancing the watch's aesthetic. The new Joker Fiat Lux comes with a black alligator leather strap with green calfskin lining and a stainless steel pin buckle. It is limited to 38 pieces, and its price is available upon request.
