The New Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar

Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 collection was Patek Philippe’s first dedicated line of feminine timepieces. The original model featured an Art Deco-inspired manchette (cuff) design, but in 2018, the brand unveiled the Twenty~4 Automatic, which is a round-cased iteration powered by an automatic movement. This year, Patek Philippe elevates the collection further by introducing a perpetual calendar complication, marking the collection's debut in the realm of Grand Complications.
Crafted entirely in 18K rose gold, the watch features a 36mm case with a slender profile of just 9.95mm, making it sit gracefully on the wrist. The case is meticulously finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Two dial options are available. The Ref. 7340/1R-001 features a silvery opaline dial with a vertical satin finish, evoking the texture of shantung silk that feature irregular texture, while the Ref. 7340/1R-010 presents an olive green sunburst dial for a more contemporary appeal.

Introducing The Black Hole Tourbillon Yas Edition, A Special Edition Tribute to the UAE

Vanguart Introduces a Unique Piece Honoring the Legacy of Islamic Contributions to Science and Art

Independent brand Vanguart presents a unique piece in tribute to the UAE, inspired by the Golden Age of Islamic achievements in engineering, mathematics, and mechanical engineering. The Black Hole Tourbillon Yas Edition is a special edition watch that has been nominated for the GPHG Award 2024 in the “Artistic Crafts'' category.

Founded in 2017, Vanguart has presented two watches so far: the first being the “Black Hole,” launched in 2021, and the second being the “Vanguart Orb,” which features a central flying tourbillon. You can read the full article about this watch from here.

This special edition of the Black Hole Tourbillon Yas Edition draws inspiration from an era when art, science, and inventions were closely intertwined. This period saw the masterpieces of Ismail Al-Jazari, the father of robotics and creator of the first great automatons. The highly detailed and mesmerizing engraving work was achieved by Vanguart's most talented artisans and required over 150 hours to complete.

The case, made of white gold, showcases complex geometries conveyed with grace and fluidity. It measures 49 x 48.5 mm and has a thickness of 10.5 mm. There are no visible screws or pins, enhancing the organic aesthetic and resulting in a flowing design. On the right side of the case, there are two crowns. The lower crown is for winding the watch (1st position) and for precisely setting the time using the joystick function (2nd position). The upper crown allows for independent adjustment of the hours, providing an instant travel time function for changing time zones.

The dial is made of titanium grade 5 and rose gold treated with PVD and is hand-finished. The time is elegantly displayed in a linear format on the left side of the timepiece next to the triangular-shaped indicator. The 3-tier concentric automaton dial is in constant motion, displaying the passage of time. The 1st tier represents the hour, the 2nd tier represents the first digit of the minutes, and the 3rd tier displays the second digit of the minutes, which animates by advancing with each revolution of the one-minute tourbillon. Next to the time readout indicator on the left side of the watch is the power reserve display, designed as a series of eight horizontal lines with "LOW" at the bottom and "FULL" at the top.

Developed and created entirely in-house by the Vanguart team, the watch is powered by the caliber T-1701, featuring a central flying tourbillon that appears to be levitating above the animated dial. This groundbreaking movement comprises 775 components, beats at 21,600 vph (3 Hz), and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement components are made of titanium grade 5 and rose gold PVD, with handmade finishes, as the polished bevels, and satin finishes.
