A Historic Model Returns in a Limited Edition Exclusive to France
TAG Heuer once again draws from its storied heritage to unveil a captivating new creation: the Carrera Seafarer Chronograph. This limited-edition timepiece pays tribute to the brand’s historic collaboration with American retailer Abercrombie & Fitch, which produced the original Seafarer watches beloved from the 1950s to the 1970s.
More than a simple reissue, the new Carrera Seafarer is a contemporary reinterpretation, merging vintage nautical charm with the cutting-edge watchmaking expertise that defines today’s TAG Heuer. The result is a chronograph that bridges past and present, steeped in history yet thoroughly modern in design and performance.
The watch features a 42mm stainless steel case with a combination of fine-brushed and polished surfaces, echoing the signature aesthetic of the Carrera line. The faceted lugs flow harmoniously into the case middle, a hallmark design element dating back to the original 1963 Carrera. A domed and beveled sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment protects the dial, contributing to an overall thickness of 15.7 mm.
The opaline blue dial presents a striking visual contrast with two silver snailed subdials: a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, divided into six alternating turquoise and silver segments with a yellow lacquered hand; and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock, also with blue markings and a yellow lacquered hand. A central chronograph seconds hand in yellow lacquer adds further vibrancy to the display.
Enhancing legibility, the rhodium-plated hour markers are applied and filled with Super-LumiNova, as are the hands, ensuring clarity in low-light conditions. At 6 o’clock, a discreet small seconds subdial and a date window complete the dial’s balanced layout.
Inside, the watch is powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre TH20-00 automatic movement, equipped with a column wheel. The movement is visible through the exhibition case back, showcasing refined finishing and an openworked rotor. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz), it delivers an impressive power reserve of approximately 80 hours.
The Carrera Seafarer Chronograph is fitted with a perforated dark blue calfskin strap accented by turquoise topstitching and secured by a stainless steel folding clasp. Limited to just 500 pieces, this exclusive model is available only in France, priced at EURO 7,350 approximately AED 31,500.
