The New Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar

Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 collection was Patek Philippe’s first dedicated line of feminine timepieces. The original model featured an Art Deco-inspired manchette (cuff) design, but in 2018, the brand unveiled the Twenty~4 Automatic, which is a round-cased iteration powered by an automatic movement. This year, Patek Philippe elevates the collection further by introducing a perpetual calendar complication, marking the collection's debut in the realm of Grand Complications.
Crafted entirely in 18K rose gold, the watch features a 36mm case with a slender profile of just 9.95mm, making it sit gracefully on the wrist. The case is meticulously finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Two dial options are available. The Ref. 7340/1R-001 features a silvery opaline dial with a vertical satin finish, evoking the texture of shantung silk that feature irregular texture, while the Ref. 7340/1R-010 presents an olive green sunburst dial for a more contemporary appeal.

Hands on Special Project Réserve de Marche Sensu Nos Edition

A multi-decorative dial inspired by Japanese culture

Kurono Tokyo is a brand inspired by Japanese culture, known for its craftsmanship and seamless fusion of traditional design with contemporary elements. This approach is evident in its latest creation, the “Special Projects Réserve de Marche Sensu”. The watch that we have today, giving us the opportunity to experience its unique fusion of art and precision firsthand.

One of the first things that stands out is the balanced size of the 38mm case. The watch features an elegant design with 316L stainless steel that gives it a polished finish, offering a modern yet classic look. With a thickness of 11.2mm, it feels just right for daily wear without being too bulky. The lug-to-lug measurement of 45.6mm ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist, making it suitable for both smaller and larger wrists alike. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, offering excellent durability and scratch resistance.

The cream-colored dial is where the watch’s craftsmanship truly shines. The engraved pattern of the power reserve indicator at 9:30, inspired by a traditional Japanese folding fan (Sensu), adds depth and complexity to the dial. This pattern is seamlessly integrated through a three-layer engraving process that creates a sense of dimension, while the guilloché pattern at the center and the decorative circular lines around the perimeter offer a beautiful contrast.

At 6 o’clock, the 24-hour subdial introduces another layer of detail, adopting the style of the main dial and decorated with a pattern that complements the overall aesthetic. While this addition is visually appealing, it would have been preferable if this area of the dial were used for a different complication that would offer more functionality. This version features black printed Arabic numerals around the edges, providing a clear, easy-to-read layout while maintaining a sleek appearance. These numerals are surrounded by an engraved wall that separates them from the minute markers, which are engraved as small dots and silver dots applied at 5-minute intervals. The curved blued Dauphine hands provide a subtle contrast to the cream dial, enhancing both readability and visual appeal.

The watch houses the Cal.9134PWT movement. Operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz), the movement delivers a 40-hour power reserve, which is more than sufficient for everyday wear.

It comes with a black calf leather strap and a steel pin buckle. The Cal. 9134PWT movement has been permanently discontinued, and all versions of this watch were sold for USD 2,150, which is equivalent to approximately AED 7,900.
