Introducing Sherpa Expands the Ultradive Collection with the Launch of the Tuxedo and Atoll Editions

A Revival of Super Compressor Dive Watches with a Refined Contemporary Touch

Founded in 2019 as a passion project, Sherpa Watches set out to revive the spirit of the legendary super compressor dive watches. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Enicar Sherpa collection, first introduced in 1956, the brand reinterprets vintage aesthetics through the lens of modern engineering and cultural storytelling.

The original Enicar Sherpa models, like many of their era, were housed in super compressor cases developed by Ervin Piquerez SA (EPSA). Patented in 1954, the system ingeniously used external pressure at depth to enhance the watch’s water resistance. Today, Sherpa builds on that heritage with the launch of two new references in its Ultradive line: the Ultradive Tuxedo and the Ultradive Atoll. These timepieces blend vintage-inspired design with contemporary mechanical reliability and bold visual appeal.

Both the Tuxedo and Atoll are housed in polished stainless steel cases measuring 40 mm in diameter and 13.50 mm in height. Honoring the EPSA legacy, each watch features a dual-crown layout equipped with Sherpa’s proprietary Monoflex compressor crowns, an innovation that enhances sealing under pressure without the need for traditional screw-down mechanisms.

The crown at 2 o’clock controls the internal bi-directional timing ring, while the 4 o’clock crown is used for manual winding and time-setting. Completing the case architecture is a robust EPSA-STOP bayonet caseback and a box-shaped sapphire crystal with chrome metallization around its lower edge. Both models offer a 200-meter water resistance and meet ISO 6425 certification standards for professional dive watches.

The Ultradive Tuxedo features a refined sunray-brushed galvanic silver dial paired with a matte black internal bezel. Red numerals on the date window offer a sharp contrast, adding a pop of color. Applied baton-style hour markers are faceted and coated with Super-LumiNova X1 for enhanced visibility. The polished hour and minute hands are complemented by Sherpa’s signature double-lollipop seconds hand, complete with luminous tips.

In contrast, the Ultradive Atoll offers a more vibrant and playful aesthetic. Its galvanic turquoise dial evokes the tropical hues of coral lagoons and is paired with a clean white internal bezel. It shares the same faceted markers and polished luminous hands as its sibling, ensuring design cohesion across the Ultradive family.

Powering both models is the Mantramatic MM01 caliber, Sherpa’s customized version of the Sellita SW200-1. This Swiss-made automatic movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of 38 hours, along with hacking seconds for precise time setting.

A hallmark of Sherpa’s identity, the movement features micro-laser-engraved Tibetan mantras on two of its wheels, a symbolic gesture rooted in the brand’s spiritual and cultural DNA. The movement is finished with gilded plates and a rotor engraved with the Sherpa logo, emphasizing the brand’s attention to detail and storytelling.

Each model is delivered on a tropic-style vulcanised rubber strap secured by a brushed stainless steel pin buckle. A stainless steel bracelet is also available for those who prefer a more classic look. Additionally, Sherpa includes a premium Italian leather double-watch travel roll with each purchase.

The Ultradive Tuxedo and Ultradive Atoll are part of Sherpa’s permanent collection, each priced at EUR 6,500 (approx. AED 27,800). Deliveries are expected to begin in September 2025. A portion of the proceeds from each sale supports community development projects in Nepal’s Sherpa regions, further reinforcing the brand’s commitment to its roots.
