The Smallest Watch Ever Made by the Belgian Independent Brand
Ressence introduces its new collection, the Type 9, while staying true to the brand’s distinctive concept. This new collection marks a milestone as the smallest offering from the brand, making it the most compact Ressence timepiece to date. The watch is a streamlined and refined evolution of the Type 8, displaying only the hours and minutes, a design trait shared by both models.
The new Ressence Type 9 features a 39 mm case crafted from grade 5 titanium, making it exceptionally lightweight at just 39 grams. The polished case is 11 mm thick and topped with a domed sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface.
In line with Ressence’s crownless design philosophy, the caseback is used for both winding and setting the time. While the case is not water-resistant, it offers protection against splashes and dust. A noteworthy addition is the brushed bezel, which incorporates minute indices—a first for Ressence cases.
The Ressence Type 9 is available in two dial colors: Grey and Aqua (light blue). For the first time in the brand's history, the minute markers have been relocated from the dial to the fixed bezel, featuring engraved short stick indices at 5-minute intervals.
The hour sub-dial includes numerals at 3 and 9, while the remaining hours are indicated by indices similar to those on the bezel, except at 12 o’clock, which features the brand’s hand logo, and at 6 o’clock, marked with a ring. All engraved markings are filled with Grade A blue Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility.
The Type 9 is powered by the new ROCS mechanism (Ressence Orbital Convex System). The automatic movement, based on the ETA caliber 2892-2, operates at a frequency of 28,800 VPH and offers a 36-hour power reserve. This base movement has been extensively customized with numerous newly fabricated parts to meet Ressence’s requirements. The patented ROCS 9 module is driven by the minute axle and employs a series of jewel ball bearings, ensuring long-term oil-free operation.

The watches come with durable synthetic woven straps, secured by a titanium pin buckle. The Type 9 Grey will be available globally starting in late November 2024, with the Aqua version following in February 2025. Both models are priced at CHF 12,500, approximately AED 52,000.
