An elegant black aesthetic with a simple colorful touch
Ressence is a unique and innovative watch brand known for its creative approach to timekeeping, appealing to enthusiasts who appreciate modern, unconventional designs combined with high-quality craftsmanship. When the brand launched the TYPE 3 in 2013, it took the watch industry by surprise as the first-ever oil-filled mechanical watch. This breakthrough design cancels out the distortion caused by light refraction, ensuring exceptional readability from any angle. To achieve this, the upper chamber is flooded with 3.57 ml of oil, creating a magnified projection effect that makes the information appear as though it is displayed directly on the glass.
Over the years, we have seen many captivating releases from the Type 3 collection, each showcasing the brand's distinctive approach to timekeeping. As part of its participation in Geneva Watch Days 2024, Ressence is launching the TYPE 3 BB2, a new timepiece that embodies an elegant blacked-out aesthetic.
The Grade 5 titanium case of the watch is beautifully finished with a matte black DLC coating, giving it a sleek and modern appearance. Measuring 44mm in diameter and 15mm in thickness, it features double-domed sapphire crystals on both the front and back, complete with anti-reflective coatings for enhanced clarity. Notably, the watch has no crown, instead, it incorporates a rotating case back that allows you to wind the movement and set the time.

The dial features convex Grade 5 titanium discs, with the longest hand the minutes. A large sub-dial on the left displays the hours, while a smaller sub-dial at 12 o'clock shows the days of the week, highlighted by a green weekend indicator. Another small sub-dial at 4 o'clock measures the oil temperature, using blue and red indicators for hot and cold. Additionally, a rotating pointer date encircles the outermost curvature of the dial, aligning with a static marker at 6 o'clock. The engraved indications are filled with green Super-LumiNova, ensuring excellent visibility in low-light conditions.
The watch is powered by the ROCS 3.5 caliber, featuring the Ressence Orbital Convex System module atop a customized ETA 2824/2 base caliber. This automatic movement provides a power reserve of 36 hours and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The watch comes with a black honeycomb strap paired with a titanium ardillon buckle, at a price of CHF 38,200, equivalent to AED 165,000.
