A Limited-Edition Timepiece to Celebrate the Chinese New Year
Raymond Weil Celebrates the Lunar New Year with an Exclusive Addition to Its Renowned Millésime Collection. This limited-edition timepiece features a captivating burgundy dial, a color that symbolizes prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture.
The Millésime collection was launched in 2023 as a tribute to Swiss watchmaking heritage. Inspired by the "neo-vintage" trend, the collection is characterized by its sectorized dial and geometric lines, achieving a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity. At Watches & Wonders in April 2024, In conjunction with the company's first participation in the exhibition, the company introduced several additions to this collection. Now, with the start of the new year, Raymond Weil unveils a special edition in celebration of the Year of the Snake.
The watch is housed in a polished and brushed stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter and 9.25mm in height. Straight drilled lugs and a smooth bezel add to its refined aesthetic. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the open case back, engraved with “One of 88,” reveals the movement within. The case offers a water resistance of up to 50 meters.
The burgundy dial strikes a balance between elegance and functionality. Its sector layout features an engraved crosshair center surrounded by three concentric rings. The outermost ring displays the seconds scale, the middle ring contains the minute track, and the innermost ring showcases applied hour indices filled with Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in low light.
Completing the design are a needle-shaped center seconds hand and inscriptions, including the Raymond Weil logo at 12 o’clock and the “Automatic” designation at 6 o’clock.
At the heart of the watch is the RW4200 automatic movement, based on the ETA 2824. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it provides a power reserve of up to 41 hours.
The Millésime Burgundy is paired with a burgundy calfskin leather strap that complements the dial’s rich tone. Limited to just 88 pieces, this exclusive timepiece is priced at CHF 1,575, approximately AED 6,340.
