The New Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar

Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 collection was Patek Philippe’s first dedicated line of feminine timepieces. The original model featured an Art Deco-inspired manchette (cuff) design, but in 2018, the brand unveiled the Twenty~4 Automatic, which is a round-cased iteration powered by an automatic movement. This year, Patek Philippe elevates the collection further by introducing a perpetual calendar complication, marking the collection's debut in the realm of Grand Complications.
Crafted entirely in 18K rose gold, the watch features a 36mm case with a slender profile of just 9.95mm, making it sit gracefully on the wrist. The case is meticulously finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Two dial options are available. The Ref. 7340/1R-001 features a silvery opaline dial with a vertical satin finish, evoking the texture of shantung silk that feature irregular texture, while the Ref. 7340/1R-010 presents an olive green sunburst dial for a more contemporary appeal.

Introducing New Ochs und Junior Selene Nebra with a Patinated Bronze Dial

The most accurate moonphase gets a new captivating bronze dial

Ochs und Junior is a Swiss watch company known for its innovative and minimalist approach to watch design. They often use a reduced number of parts in their movements to increase reliability and ease of maintenance. This design philosophy extends to the visual aspect of the watches, which are typically characterized by a clean and uncluttered dial, with unique ways of displaying time and other complications. In 2011, the brand introduced the most accurate moon phase in a wristwatch the “selena”, with a moon phase complication that comprises only 5 parts.

This year, Ochs und Junior presents a reimagining of a request from a decade ago. Back in 2013, a customer had approached the brand with a special request: to craft a unique Selene moon phase watch featuring a dial inspired by the storied Nebra sky disc, a Bronze Age artifact of celestial heritage found in Germany. Today, that imaginative concept has been revisited, culminating in the release of the Selene Nebra with a patinated bronze dial.

The new Selene Nebra comes encased in a two-part grade 5 titanium case, offered in sizes of either 39mm or 42mm with 11mm of thickness. The case is complemented by a sapphire crystal with a screw-down crown, and offers 100 meters of water-resistant.

The dial is where the watch hits the spotlight as It boasts a patinated bronze, paying homage to the ancient Nebra sky disc. The dial is adorned with a hammered 24k gold Sun at 12 o’clock, and surrounding the golden sun, are the hours gold leaf indices. Time is swept by 18k gold hour and minute hands, while the 30+1 dot date display is indicated by a hammered 24k gold dot. At the heart of the dial lies the crescent-shaped moon phase aperture. Here, a hammered platinum full moon and its dark new moon counterpart perform an enchanting celestial dance, accurate for 3,478 years.

Powering the Selene Nebra is the ETA 2824-2 base movement, enhanced with a moon phase module developed by Ludwig Oechslin, one of the brand's founders. This automatic winding mechanism operates at 28,800vph 4(Hz), and offers 38-hours of power reserve. The 5-part epicyclic gear system developed for the moon phase complication aligns with Oechslin's philosophy of simplicity and reliability.

The watch is available till the 6th of January 2024, and presented on a handmade Ecopell Oliphant leather strap, matched with a grade 5 titanium buckle, with a price of CHF 8,100 which is equivalent to AED 33,000.
