A new water blue sapphire case for the MP-11 collection
Since 2018, Hublot's Big Bang MP-11 collection has stood out for its unique 14-day power reserve, thanks to seven horizontally aligned barrels. Over the years, the MP-11 has driven the most audacious aesthetic designs, including those in ceramic, SAXEM, Magic Gold, and 3D carbon. This year, the brand is introducing the MP-11 in a stunning Water Blue Sapphire case, a new color that joins Hublot's sapphire palette, marking a first for this collection.
The new timepiece is entirely resistant to impacts and scratches. The sapphire case, measuring 45mm in diameter and 14.4mm in thickness, is a showcase of exquisite hand-polishing. The bezel, also made from Water Blue sapphire, is fastened with six H-shaped titanium screws. The caseback is crafted from sapphire crystal, ensuring 30 meters of water resistance. The large, fluted crown is positioned at 3 o'clock and is used for winding and setting the time.
As we've noted, the watch features seven barrels and an impressive 14-day power reserve. But beyond the numbers, the technology involved is remarkable. To maintain a slim profile of 10.9 mm, the seven barrels are coaxial and vertical, not integrated into the thickness of the movement. Hublot placed the balance wheel at 2 o'clock.
A very slowly rotating disc shows the remaining power reserve, positioned close to the energy source, directly above the seven aligned barrels. The sub-dial for hours and minutes is located at 12 o'clock and is driven by a vertical gear train.
The watch is powered by Hublot’s HUB9011 caliber, which operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), and also features a silicon escapement to protect the movement from electromagnetic and thermal interference. The timepiece comes with a water blue transparent rubber strap with a titanium deployant clasp, it is limited to 50 pieces, and priced at CHF 155,000 which is equivalent to AED 626,000.
