Introducing Naoya Hida Unveils the NH Type 6A Perpetual Calendar

The Independent Japanese Watchmaker Launches Its First Perpetual Calendar

Naoya Hida & Co., a Japanese independent watchmaker based in Tokyo, is renowned for its refined interpretation of vintage Swiss aesthetics. Since its founding in 2018, the brand has quietly produced, in very limited numbers, a collection of compact dress watches that blend classic design cues with a modern sensibility. Throughout its seven-year history, the brand has remained faithful to time-only dress pieces, save for the moonphase complication introduced with the Type 3.

Now, in 2025, Naoya Hida ventures into a new chapter with the launch of his first perpetual calendar, created in collaboration with two respected names in watchmaking Habring², the Austrian independent atelier, and Dubois-Depraz, a revered specialist in movement modules.

The NH Type 6A remains true to Naoya Hida’s signature aesthetic, with a classically rounded case inspired by vintage timepieces. Despite the complexity of the perpetual calendar mechanism, the watch maintains compact proportions, measuring just 37mm in diameter and 11.5mm in thickness.

The case is crafted from 904L stainless steel, combining brushed surfaces with a polished concave bezel for an elegant contrast. While the design is restrained, the calendar pushers subtly stand out at the 2 and 4 o’clock positions, enhancing its functionality without disrupting its harmony.

True to the brand’s artisanal spirit, the NH Type 6A features a solid Argentium silver dial, valued for its resistance to tarnishing. Every detail speaks to meticulous craftsmanship: the Roman numerals and sub-dial markings are hand-engraved by Japanese artisan Keisuke Kano, then filled with cashew lacquer (a synthetic alternative to Urushi), lending rich depth and warmth to the dial.

The perpetual calendar display follows a traditional layout, with central hour and minute hands, and sub-dials indicating the date at 9 o’clock, day of the week at 3 o’clock, and month with leap year at 6 o’clock. The central hour and minute hands are crafted from hand-polished 18k yellow gold, while the calendar hands are rendered in thermally blued steel, offering a subtle color contrast.

Powering the NH Type 6A is a manual-wound caliber 3025PC, developed in collaboration with Austrian watchmaker Habring². Since 2014, Habring² has created its own in-house movement family, known as the A11, named after Austria and the year 2011 when its development began. The perpetual calendar module is supplied by Dubois-Depraz, a renowned specialist in calendar complications.

The movement beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a 45-hour power reserve. Visible through a sapphire caseback, the caliber features a circular striped finishing that reflects the movement’s refined construction.

The Naoya Hida Type 6A Perpetual Calendar is presented on a black grained leather strap with a matching 904L steel pin buckle. Production will be strictly limited to around 10 pieces between 2025 and 2026, underscoring its exclusivity. The retail price is JPY 7,500,000 (excluding taxes), approximately AED 187,350.
