Introducing MB&F Unveils the All-New SP One Collection

Special Project One, An Innovative Design for the Brand’s Thinnest and Smallest Watch Ever

MB&F introduces a striking new chapter in its creative evolution with a distinctive design that inaugurates an entirely new category of timepieces. Bridging the futuristic aesthetic of its radical Horological Machines and the classical refinement of the Legacy Machine line, the new Special Project One (SP One) marks the debut of an independent collection aptly named “Special Projects,” launching with two editions in platinum and rose gold.

Behind its unconventional movement architecture and exceptional hand-finishing, the SP One captivates with a unique, pebble-inspired case. Measuring 38mm in diameter and just 12mm thick, the ultra-slim case is free of a traditional bezel, lending the watch a fluid, organic appearance.

The fully exposed dial is seamlessly integrated into MB&F’s signature three-dimensional design language. The result is the slimmest and most compact timepiece ever created by the brand, without compromising the bold identity that defines MB&F.

Thanks to sapphire crystals on both the front and back, key elements appear to float, seemingly defying gravity. But it’s the movement’s ingenious architecture that truly amplifies this sense of levitation, resulting in a visually arresting experience. Embracing the “less is more” philosophy, the bridges are nearly invisible, most components are cleverly hidden beneath three central elements, allowing these mechanical features to take center stage. The fewer visible bridges, screws, and wheels, the better.

The SP One comes in two editions, both showcasing openworked dials: one in platinum with a sky-blue bevelled flange, and the other in rose gold with an anthracite bevelled flange.

Initially code-named “Three Circles,” the SP One movement is built around three essential components of any mechanical watch: the barrel, the balance wheel, and the time display. The hours and minutes are indicated on a black DLC-coated inclined subdial positioned at 6 o’clock.

Visually, the three elements share identical circumferences, adding complexity to the movement's design. The single-barrel architecture is gracefully suspended to enhance the levitation effect, a formidable challenge for MB&F’s watchmakers. Positioned at 2 o’clock, the oscillating balance wheel draws the eye like a miniature flying saucer.

The SP One is powered by an in-house, manual-winding movement developed by MB&F. It features the brand’s iconic balance wheel, the inclined time display, and a single mainspring barrel offering a 72-hour power reserve.

Beating at a frequency of 2.5 Hz (18,000 vph), the movement is composed of 191 components and showcases exceptional hand-finishing. This includes polished bevels, hand-engraved details, and intricate internal angles, all set against anthracite bridges treated with a refined ruthenium finish.

Each watch is paired with a calfskin strap, green for the rose gold version, and beige for the platinum edition, secured with a matching white gold or rose gold pin buckle.

The rose gold version is priced at CHF 58,000, which is equivalent to AED 255,320. The platinum version is priced at CHF 63,000, which is equivalent to AED 277,275.
