A Sporty Design Combining Advanced Materials and a Brand-New Automatic Movement
Maurice Lacroix introduced the AIKON collection in 2016 as a line of sporty timepieces with integrated bracelets and accessible pricing. Since then, it has become the brand’s best-selling range. Building on this success, Maurice Lacroix now unveils the AIKONIC, a new chapter in the AIKON story that evolves the design language while incorporating advanced materials and refined mechanics.
The collection embraces innovative materials, bringing notable changes to the design and debuting a newly developed, highly finished automatic movement all while retaining the AIKON’s iconic signature, such as the bezel with its six claws.
The case construction blends modern aesthetics with premium materials. Four of the new models are crafted in stainless steel, while a fifth, more technical version features a black DLC-coated titanium case.
Measuring 43 mm in diameter and a slim 11 mm in height, the case showcases a striking interplay of vertically brushed surfaces and polished accents. Both front and back are fitted with sapphire crystals, and the watches are water-resistant to 100 meters.
A major upgrade is found in the bezel and crown, both now made from matte ceramic in black, white, or blue. The six claws, a defining AIKON element, are sandblasted for a subtle yet dynamic contrast.
For the dial, Maurice Lacroix opted for carbon fiber, arranged in a unique north-to-south alignment. This structure creates alternating grey and black lines, forming a distinctive linear texture. Because the fiber alignment varies during production, no two dials are identical. To achieve this, the brand partnered with a specialist firm located just 40 kilometers from its Saignelégier manufacture, reinforcing Maurice Lacroix’s commitment to local savoir-faire.
The dial is completed with applied indexes and rhodium-plated hands filled with white Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility. One reference stands out with turquoise-plated hands and markers, adding a bold contemporary twist. A discreet date window is positioned at 3 o’clock.
At the heart of the collection is the new Calibre ML1000, developed in collaboration with movement specialist Soprod, based just a few kilometers from Maurice Lacroix. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the movement delivers a robust 60-hour power reserve and is finely regulated to achieve an impressive accuracy of ±4 seconds per day. Decorations include perlage, blued screws, and Côtes de Genève. The large, openworked rotor enhances winding efficiency while revealing more of the movement’s finishing.
Each AIKONIC model is paired with a bi-material rubber strap equipped with the brand’s ML EasyChange system and a stainless steel pin buckle. Pricing begins at USD 3,400 (approx. AED 12,490) for the stainless steel models and USD 3,700 (approx. AED 13,590) for the black DLC-coated titanium edition.
