The New Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar

Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 collection was Patek Philippe’s first dedicated line of feminine timepieces. The original model featured an Art Deco-inspired manchette (cuff) design, but in 2018, the brand unveiled the Twenty~4 Automatic, which is a round-cased iteration powered by an automatic movement. This year, Patek Philippe elevates the collection further by introducing a perpetual calendar complication, marking the collection's debut in the realm of Grand Complications.
Crafted entirely in 18K rose gold, the watch features a 36mm case with a slender profile of just 9.95mm, making it sit gracefully on the wrist. The case is meticulously finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Two dial options are available. The Ref. 7340/1R-001 features a silvery opaline dial with a vertical satin finish, evoking the texture of shantung silk that feature irregular texture, while the Ref. 7340/1R-010 presents an olive green sunburst dial for a more contemporary appeal.

Auction Massena Lab in Collaboration with Raul Pages Announces the Petrichor Watch

A Unique Timepiece for the Time of Art Auction in Support of Swiss Art

Collaborations between major watch brands are a key driver of creativity and innovation, resulting in exceptional timepieces that bear the signatures of more than one maker. These partnerships enrich the designs, imbuing them with distinctive and unique characteristics. Collaborations can range from honoring historical figures to celebrating special occasions or showcasing innovative technologies. In this context, "Massena Lab" has distinguished itself with its remarkable collaborations with some of the most prominent names in horology. These collaborations have consistently celebrated special memories or unique artistic creations. Among them is the partnership with "H. Moser & Cie" to produce the "Endeavor Chronograph Compax", considered one of the most significant collaborations for the brand. Recently, Massena Lab unveiled its latest creation in collaboration with the talented watchmaker Raul Pages, the unique “Petrichor” watch. This exceptional piece will be offered at the Time for Art auction, organized by Phillips Auction House, on December 7, 2024, at 3 p.m. EST. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Swiss Institute in New York, reflecting Massena Lab’s ongoing commitment to supporting the arts and culture. Massena Lab continues to strengthen its position as a brand that embraces both innovation and artistry in watchmaking. These collaborations highlight its dedication to creating watches that are not only luxurious but also culturally and humanely meaningful.

The watch comes with a 316L stainless steel case with both polished and brushed finishes, offering a refined and durable appearance. The case measures 38.5mm in diameter and has a thickness of 10mm, providing a comfortable yet substantial fit on the wrist. It is equipped with a sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on both sides to enhance clarity and reduce glare. Additionally, the exhibition caseback allows for a clear view of the watch's inner workings and offers water resistance up to 50 metres.

The dial features a stunning sable-colored backdrop with a sunray finish, creating a subtle yet captivating play of light. Silver-tone, rhodium-plated hands and hour indices complement the dark dial, offering a refined contrast for easy legibility. The hour indices are encircled by a minute track, with rhodium-plated indexes applied at the edges of the dial for additional precision. At 9 o'clock, a unique small seconds subdial is adorned with a snailed pattern and a white printed train track, enhancing the visual complexity. A design element at 3 o'clock mirrors this theme, with the words "observatory-precision" printed in a circular pattern, suggesting the presence of a second subdial and maintaining a harmonious balance across the dial.

This timepiece is powered by the manual-winding Massena LAB caliber M690, a proprietary movement designed and developed by renowned watchmaker Raúl Pagès. Operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz), it ensures smooth and precise timekeeping. The movement boasts a 60-hour power reserve. Adding to its beauty, the movement is adorned with exquisite Côtes de Genève decorations, highlighting the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define Pagès’ work. It comes with a calfskin leather strap and a stainless steel pin buckle.

The Petrichor watch, a pièce unique, will not be commercialized or reproduced. It will be sold at TimeForArt Auctions, on December 7, 2024, starting at 3pm EST.
