Introducing The Brellum Pandial Marina Tricompax Chronometer
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
Bringing back the famous chronograph Valjoux 88 calibre
Louis Moinet is an independent brand renowned for crafting high-end, creative, and artistic timepieces that push the boundaries of horological design. Among their most striking creations are timepieces adorned with twelve opals in varying colors and those that set a new world record by incorporating twelve different meteorites on the dial.
As the brand celebrates its twentieth anniversary, it releases the new Speed of Sound timepieces. This chronograph not only showcases Louis Moinet's artistic flair but also revives the iconic Valjoux 88 calibre, blending history with innovation in a tribute to decades of exceptional watchmaking.
The watch comes in a Grade 5 titanium case measuring 40.7 mm in diameter and 18.7 mm in thickness. The case features two large pump-style pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock, openworked lugs, and a domed sapphire crystal that protects the dial. The black dial showcases intricate guilloché patterns with elegant red gold accents. At 3 o'clock, the 30-minute chronograph counter, and at 9 o'clock, the small seconds sub-dial, both incorporate di Aletai iron meteorite.
At 6 o'clock, a disc features a hand-drawn moon painted with luminescent material. A fragment of the Dhofar 457, a rare lunar meteorite that fell in the southernmost region of Oman, symbolizes the full moon. The moon appears full when this fragment aligns with one of the two pointers, indicating the current moon phase. Additionally, the watch is equipped with a special scale that measures the speed of sound by calculating the distance of a sound event. As the brand highlighted in its press release, in the event of a thunderstorm, for example, you start the chronograph when lightning strikes and stop it when you hear the thunder.
Under the sapphire crystal caseback, you can see the Valjoux 88 calibre, a historic movement originally produced in the 1940s. This manually wound movement operates at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz) and offers a 40-hour power reserve. The Speed of Sound comes with a black leather strap and is limited to 20 pieces, priced at CHF 50,000, which is equivalent to AED 215,000.
