Louis Erard Unveils the Limited-Edition Gravée Main

Since 2021, Louis Erard has been redefining the boundaries of Métiers d’Art, from Grand Feu enamel and guilloché to wood marquetry, and soon, gold wire inlay. Now, Gravée Main opens a new chapter, paying tribute to one of the oldest crafts in watchmaking hand engraving.
Gravée Main represents a new milestone in Louis Erard’s Métiers d’Art series. This limited edition of 99 unique timepieces places hand engraving at center stage, with every metal element entirely engraved and finished by hand, a meticulous process that requires more than 50 hours of work.

Introducing Lang & Heyne Unveils the Friedrich III Manufaktur Edition

An exclusive release celebrating Saxony’s history and German watchmaking excellence

Lang & Heyne has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Friedrich III Manufaktur Edition. As with the brand’s previous releases, the new timepiece carries the illustrious name of a former duke from the Wettin house, a lineage deeply rooted in German nobility and the historic rulers of Saxony.

The German manufacture has long championed the highest standards of traditional watchmaking, proudly demonstrating not only its technical savoir-faire but also the refined Saxon style for which it is renowned. The finishing is among the finest in the industry, blending classical design codes with subtle contemporary touches. The Friedrich III Manufaktur Edition is a particularly elegant expression of this philosophy.

The stainless steel case measures 39.2 mm in diameter and 11.65 mm in height (including the hinged lid). It is crafted not from drawn or stretched material, but turned from a single block of steel, ensuring exceptional stability and a flawless surface. Balanced comfortably on the wrist, it features an onion-shaped crown set with an onyx cabochon, adding both visual and tactile distinction.

The hinged cover does not close by itself; instead, a precisely engineered closing spring ensures a reassuring click when shut, combining safety with everyday practicality. To accommodate the hinges, the lugs were subtly extended by a fraction, an almost invisible yet essential adjustment that preserves the watch’s harmonious proportions.

Inside, the cover is highly polished, acting as a mirror that reflects the movement when opened. On request, the caseback can be custom-engraved with initials, symbols, or personal emblems, transforming each watch into a unique heirloom of lasting personal value.

The two-part dial, crafted in black enamel on white gold base, is executed using the elaborate champlevé technique. Roman numerals, applied with pad printing, appear crisp and deeply defined. Time is indicated by hand-engraved Louis XV steel hands, miniature works of art that embody elegance and precision.

At the heart of the watch is the hand-wound Caliber VI, developed entirely in Dresden. It offers a 55-hour power reserve and beats at 18,000 vibrations per hour. As with all Lang & Heyne calibers, over 90% of the components are produced in-house.

The architecture follows the Saxon school but departs from the traditional three-quarter plate, instead revealing the gear train through a series of free-standing bridges. The interplay of rhodium surfaces, rose gold wheels, sapphire jewels, and heat-blued violet screws transforms the movement into a visual symphony of mechanical artistry.

The Friedrich III Manufaktur Edition is completed with a hand-finished reptile leather strap secured by a pin buckle. Limited to just five pieces, it is priced at €50,000, approximately AED 213,165.
