Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
A marvel of engineering with a cylindrical tourbillon
Since 2004, Hautlence has carved out a niche as one of the boldest independents in the Swiss watchmaking scene. The brand challenges conventional time displays and embraces radical case designs, remaining unafraid to experiment. This year, the brand is launching the Helix Series 1.
This new model makes a powerful impression at first glance. Its case is crafted from Grade 5 titanium and takes on a rectangular form, topped by a domed sapphire crystal. Measuring 37mm across, 45.10mm in length, and just 11.8mm thick, the watch wears lighter than it looks thanks to its slim profile and ergonomic refinements. A polished crown with a black rubber ring subtly enhances grip and contrast. The watch offers 100 meters of water resistance.
The dial features a cylindrical tourbillon, placed dead center and spiraling like a strand of DNA. Flanking this movement are two retrograde indicators for the hours and minutes. Their arched tracks sweep across the skeletonized dial, where the cams can be seen. The use of rhodium-plated brass, and luminous Globolight numerals adds both depth and contrast to the display. The dial also features a blue ALD coating, which is similar to CVD; however, CVD deposits material in one continuous step, while ALD builds it up layer by layer through separate reactions.
The watch is powered by the D51 calibre, an automatic movement developed entirely in-house. It features 235 components, a micro-rotor winding system, and a 65-hour power reserve, beating at 21,600 vph (3Hz).
It is secured on a grey rubber strap with navy textile inserts and a Grade 5 titanium buckle. Only 28 pieces will be made, priced at CHF 75,000, approximately AED 340,000.
