New additions to the Sekki collection inspired by summer and autumn
Grand Seiko exemplifies the finest in Japanese watchmaking. With a dedication to excellence, the brand seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovation. As 2025 begins, Grand Seiko expands its Heritage 62GS Sekki collection with the introduction of two new models: the SBGH351 Rikka and the SBGH353 Shubun. First introduced in 2019, the Sekki collection draws inspiration from the twenty-four seasonal phases of the Japanese calendar. The latest additions reflect this theme, with the SBGH351 Rikka embodying the essence of summer and the SBGH353 Shubun capturing the spirit of autumn.
Both models feature an Ever-Brilliant Steel case, Seiko’s proprietary alloy, which the brand claims is the world’s most corrosion-resistant steel. The case measures 40mm in diameter with a thickness of 12.9mm. Each watch is fitted with a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring exceptional clarity.
The Zaratsu-polished surfaces create distortion-free reflections, while the signature bezel-less design, first introduced in the 1967 62GS model, remains unchanged. The screw-down sapphire crystal caseback offers a view of the movement while maintaining a water resistance of 100 meters.
Inspired by the lush greenery of early summer, the deep green dial reflects Japan’s seasonal transition. The gold accents are limited to the Grand Seiko logo and the seconds hand, with the indices and hands now in steel, giving the watch a more refined look. Both variants feature a date window at 3 o’clock.
The SBGH353’s deep blue dial is inspired by the clear night skies that Japan enjoys during Shūbun, the sixteenth of the twenty-four sekki or seasons, which falls around the time of the autumn equinox. Like the Rikka, it features gold accents on the GS logo and the seconds hand.

Powering these timepieces is the Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85, an automatic movement that beats at 36,000 vph (5Hz). It boasts a 55-hour power and provides a very good accuracy with a mean daily rate of +5/-3 seconds per day. The movement is hand-assembled by the skilled artisans of Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi.
Both models come on an Ever-Brilliant Steel bracelet, with a three-fold clasp with a push-button release, providing both comfort and security. These models join the permanent collection, available at a price of USD 7,200 / AED 26,500.
