To mark its 180th anniversary, the German watchmaker debuts the first dial crafted in its new dial atelier
In a landmark year marking the 180th anniversary of watchmaking in Glashütte, German manufacture Glashütte Original unveils a major milestone: the opening of its new, state-of-the-art dial manufactory, the only one of its kind in the historic watchmaking town. To inaugurate this facility, the brand launches a special limited edition of its PanoLunarTourbillon, a model that perfectly embodies Glashütte Original’s blend of tradition and innovation.
First introduced in 2013, the PanoLunarTourbillon returns in 2025 in a revitalized platinum edition. While a rare engraved-dial version briefly appeared in 2020, limited to just 25 pieces, this latest edition brings a bold, refined color palette that bridges classic elegance with contemporary flair.
The dial takes center stage not only for its aesthetic, but also for its symbolic significance. It is the first to be produced in the new manufactory and is finished in a rich galvanized rose hue, a tribute to the reddish tones of the local iron ore that surrounds the town of Glashütte. The surface is enhanced by a finely grained embossed texture, lending it depth and character.
Applied steel indices, heat-blued for contrast, are paired with precisely printed scales for clarity. Glashütte Original’s signature Panorama Date is presented in white on a blue background, achieved through two concentric, co-axially mounted date discs. The blue-and-silver moon phase display, featuring a silver moon and stars, is also crafted entirely in-house, a testament to the brand’s vertical integration and artisanal expertise.
Housed in a case of polished and brushed platinum, the watch measures 40 mm in diameter, 12.7 mm in height, and 47 mm lug to lug. It features a double-stepped polished bezel and a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Water-resistant to 50 meters, the case reflects the same balance of form and function that defines the rest of the timepiece.
Inside beats the in-house automatic Calibre 93-03, offering a 60-hour power reserve and operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz). The movement is beautifully decorated with traditional Glashütte finishing, including rhodium-plated plates adorned with the brand’s signature stripe pattern, and a ground plate embellished with perlage. Blue-inlaid engravings add a vibrant touch, while the skeletonized rotor, crafted from 21-carat gold, rhodium-plated, and decorated with the double-G logo completes the visual spectacle.
The watch is offered with two strap options: a classic dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap and a sportier blue synthetic fabric strap, both secured by a platinum folding clasp.
The PanoLunarTourbillon Platinum Limited Edition is limited to just 50 pieces and priced at €125,000 (approximately AED 537,340).
