Celebrating 150 Years of Juwelier Becker, the Brand’s Official Partner in Germany
Gerald Charles presents the Maestro GC19 Becker Anniversary Edition, a striking violet-hued timepiece limited to just 20 pieces, created in collaboration with German retailer Juwelier Becker. This special edition celebrates two milestones: the 150th anniversary of Hamburg-based Juwelier Becker and the 25th anniversary of the Gerald Charles brand. Notably, it marks the brand’s first special edition made exclusively for the German market.
Inspired by Roman Baroque architecture and Gérald Genta’s iconic designs, the Maestro case stands out with its elongated octagon shape, featuring unequal sides, a double-stepped bezel for added depth, and the signature curved “smile” at 6 o’clock an homage to sweeping architectural façades. Combining angular and curved forms, it remains one of the few truly asymmetrical watch cases in the industry, continually reimagined in new materials and finishes.
The Maestro GC19 Becker Anniversary Edition is crafted from polished stainless steel, comprising 37 components, and measuring 39 mm by 40 mm. The case is topped with sapphire crystal front and back and fitted with a screw-down crown adorned with Clou de Paris finishing. Secured with eight screws, the caseback ensures water resistance to 100 metres and shock resistance up to 5G.
The dial draws inspiration from the GC33 chronograph designed by Genta in 2006, incorporating a Clous de Paris motif formed by small, tightly arranged pyramids that play with light. This texture is paired with a bold lavender hue that evokes the vibrancy of summer. At 6 o’clock, a large date display, made from two separate discs in matching violet with white Arabic numerals adds functionality. Applied indices and hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility.
Powering the watch is the automatic calibre Ref. GCA131-9391, based on the Soprod A10. Beating at 28,800 vph (4Hz), it delivers a 50-hour power reserve. Viewed through the sapphire caseback, the movement’s bridges showcase refined finishes: a spiral “colimaçon” pattern, sunray brushing, and Côtes de Genève on the golden rotor, complemented by blued screws.
Completing the watch is a lavender rubber strap, echoing the dial’s colour, embossed with a Clous de Paris pattern, and secured with a stainless steel folding clasp.
Exclusively available through Becker boutiques, this limited edition of just 20 pieces is priced at Euro 20,400, approximately 87,000 AED.
