The “British Racing Green” and “Dawn” Bring a Modern Twist to the Classic Design
Last year, Favre Leuba announced its grand comeback at the Geneva Watch Days 2024, ushering in a new era with three collections inspired by the brand’s rich heritage. Among the highlights was the launch of the Chief Chronograph, inspired by the cushion-shaped chronograph models of the 1970s.
Today, the Swiss maison expands this collection with two elegant new dial variations: British Racing Green, inspired by the world of motorsport, and Dune, featuring a sandy beige tone. These editions add a refreshed character while preserving the classic authenticity of the collection’s design.
The Chief Chronograph features a cushion-shaped stainless steel case that highlights its multifaceted design. Measuring 41 mm in diameter and 14 mm in thickness, the case combines vertical brushing on the top surfaces with polished sides and pushers, creating a dynamic interplay of light.
Both the front and back are fitted with sapphire crystals, treated with anti-reflective coating, while water resistance is rated at 100 meters.
The dial is offered in either British Racing Green or Dune. The main dial features a sunburst finish, while the outer perimeter and sub-dials are circular-brushed for enhanced contrast. A bi-compax layout places the small seconds at 9 o’clock and the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock.
The hands and indices are coated with Super-LumiNova X1, which emits a blue glow. On the green dial version, they take on a silvery hue, while on the Dune version, they appear in a warm golden tone.
As with previous Chief Chronograph editions, the new models are powered by the FLC02 calibre, an automatic column-wheel chronograph developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret. Operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), it offers a 60-hour power reserve and incorporates a vertical clutch mechanism.
The movement is finely decorated with Côtes de Genève on the bridges, blued screws, and a skeletonised 18K 4N gold-plated rotor with sunray and colimaçon finishing. The engraved monogram and “Swiss Made Since 1737” medallion further underline the brand’s storied heritage.
Each watch comes with an integrated two-link stainless steel bracelet, alternating brushed and polished surfaces, secured with a butterfly clasp. An additional FKM rubber strap with a pin buckle, color-matched to the dial, is also included. Both options feature an easy-change mechanism, allowing quick swaps without the need for tools.
The Favre Leuba Chief Chronograph joins the brand’s permanent collection. Pricing is set at CHF 4,375 (approx. AED 20,300) on the bracelet, or CHF 4,300 (approx. AED 19,000) on the rubber strap.
