The New Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar

Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 collection was Patek Philippe’s first dedicated line of feminine timepieces. The original model featured an Art Deco-inspired manchette (cuff) design, but in 2018, the brand unveiled the Twenty~4 Automatic, which is a round-cased iteration powered by an automatic movement. This year, Patek Philippe elevates the collection further by introducing a perpetual calendar complication, marking the collection's debut in the realm of Grand Complications.
Crafted entirely in 18K rose gold, the watch features a 36mm case with a slender profile of just 9.95mm, making it sit gracefully on the wrist. The case is meticulously finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Two dial options are available. The Ref. 7340/1R-001 features a silvery opaline dial with a vertical satin finish, evoking the texture of shantung silk that feature irregular texture, while the Ref. 7340/1R-010 presents an olive green sunburst dial for a more contemporary appeal.

Introducing F.P.Journe Launches the Chronomètre Furtif with a Striking Tungsten Carbide Case

A new addition to the lineSport collection, following the Only Watch 2023 release

Few names in independent watchmaking command as much respect as F.P.Journe. Founded in 1999 by François-Paul Journe, the brand is renowned for its relentless pursuit of horological excellence. Every watch bears the Latin motto "Invenit et Fecit", meaning "He invented it and made it." F.P.Journe remains one of the few truly independent maisons that develop, manufacture, and assemble their movements entirely in-house.

First introduced in 2011, the lineSport collection was created to bring F.P.Journe’s technical expertise into the realm of sporty timepieces. Now, the collection welcomes a new addition: the Chronomètre Furtif. This watch continues the brand’s tradition of technical mastery and innovative materials, following the Chronomètre Furtif Bleu made for Only Watch 2023. However, unlike its predecessor’s full tantalum construction, this new iteration comes in tungsten carbide, a compound of tungsten and carbon.

The tungsten carbide case measures 42mm in diameter and 9.50mm in thickness, the material is also known for its extreme hardness and resistance to shocks. The caseback, bumper, bezel ring, and crown are crafted from tantalum, a metal prized for its deep blue-gray hue. The interplay between sandblasted and polished finishes enhances the watch’s modern appeal. Through the transparent caseback, you can see the power reserve indicator at the top and a moon phase indicator at the bottom.

One of the most distinctive features is its dial: a mirror-polished anthracite grey Grand Feu enamel on a white gold base. The numerals and minute track remain invisible at first glance, only revealing themselves when the watch is tilted at the right angle, an intimate detail designed solely for the wearer’s enjoyment. The matte rhodium-plated steel hour and minute hands, along with a white steel seconds hand, ensure legibility.

Powering the watch is the 18K rose gold Calibre 1522, a manually wound movement operating at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and offering a 56-hour power reserve. It features a nearly linear gear train, a first for F.P.Journe, along with a high level of finishing. The mainplate and bridges showcase traditional haute horlogerie decorations, including Côtes de Genève, circular graining, and mirror-polished steel components.

The timepiece comes with a three-row flat-link tungsten carbide bracelet, secured with a folding titanium clasp accented with a tantalum cap. The Chronomètre Furtif is not a limited edition but joins the permanent lineSport collection. However, the price is yet to be confirmed.
