Introducing Credor Celebrates its 50th Anniversary With a Special Edition of Eichi II

A chic and elegant watch in yellow gold with a blue dial

Since its debut in 1974, Credor, a high-end watch brand owned by the Seiko group, has combined the elegance of Japanese design with the brand's exceptional craftsmanship. The name Credor, derived from the French "crête d'or," meaning "crest of gold," represented a high level of artistry in watchmaking.

One of the brand's notable releases is the Eichi, and its successor, the Eichi II that was introduced in 2014. This timepiece gained recognition for its simplicity, featuring a time-only display and an elegant white dial. In 2020, the brand launched a new version of the Eichi II in platinum with a deep blue porcelain dial. Now, as Credor celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024, a special edition of the Eichi II in yellow gold with blue dial will be released to commemorate the occasion.

The brand maintains the same fundamental design as the 2020 edition but incorporates gold accents throughout. The new Credor Eichi II features a polished 18k yellow gold case, measuring 39mm in diameter and 10mm in thickness. The dial is protected by a dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, while the open case back allows a glimpse of the movement.

The deep blue dial features a Credor logo positioned at 12 o'clock, indices, and the Credor lettering are all hand-painted by an artisan at the Micro Artist Studio, the watchmaking workshop where the watch is made. Once the dials are fired, gold is applied to the hand-painted elements. This technique is inspired by 'Ruri-Kinsai,' a famous yet rare form of traditional craft that gained prominence during the Edo period (years from 1603 until 1868), in which gold is added onto ruri-colored materials like porcelain.

The watch is powered by the manual-winding Spring Drive Caliber 7R14. The barrel of the movement is designed to resemble the bellflower, the symbol of Shiojiri City, where the Micro Artist Studio is based. The two hand-finished bridges feature highly polished edges, providing a subtle sparkle from any angle, while the power reserve indicator and screws are in blue. The movement incorporates the “Torque Return System”, offering a 60-hour power reserve. The timepiece comes with a black crocodile leather strap with a yellow gold three-fold clasp. It is limited to just 30 pieces, with a price of EUR 48,000, which is equivalent to AED 190,000.
