Two limited editions that showcase the dragon in its finest details
Corum, the Swiss luxury watch brand, stands as a testament to the fusion of innovation, craftsmanship, and a rich heritage. Founded in 1955 by René Bannwart in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the brand embarked on a journey to redefine the horological world. One of the brand’s most iconic releases is the “Bubble” watch, a distinctive timepiece that made its mark with its unique design and unconventional approach to watchmaking. Launched in the year 2000, the Bubble concept came from the creative vision of Severin Wunderman and inspired by an experimental diver's watch from the 1960s. The bubble collection introduced a series of watches characterized by their oversized, domed sapphire crystals that protects the dial, creating a captivating visual effect.

The brand is renowned for having both captivating aesthetics of its timepieces and its commitment to technical excellence in the realm of high-end watchmaking. Since the protagonist of this year's Chinese Zodiac is the dragon, a revered symbol in Chinese culture symbolizing power, nobility, honor, luck, and success, CORUM introduces two limited editions of its Bubble collection commemorating the Year of the Dragon.
Both timepieces boast a black PVD-coated stainless steel case, measuring 47mm in diameters and 18.50mm in thickness. The domed sapphire crystal extends gracefully over the dial, featuring an anti-reflective treatment. The screwed-in caseback incorporates a glare-proof sapphire crystal, ensuring 100m of water-resistant capability.
Although both watches share their cases, they captivate in their dials. The “BUBBLE 47 DRAGON” conjures the ambiance of a profound night sky, with a black sunray base representing the night, adorned by a delicate moon crafted from mother-of-pearl. Suspended above the dial, amidst mystical black clouds, a golden dragon gracefully hovers, symbolizing the potent and graceful essence associated with this mythical creature.
While the “BUBBLE 47 DRAGON EYE” draws its inspiration from the opulence of Chinese mythology, this timepiece distinguishes itself through the intricate portrayal of the dragon's eye on its dial—an iconic symbol of strength and power. Far from a mere mechanical process, this emblematic detail undergoes a handcrafted journey using the metal casting technique. Each eye undergoes red coloring, and the golden scales emerge by the deft touch of handwork, endowing every watch with a unique artistic identity.
Both models feature the CO 082 automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and offering a power reserve of 42 hours. These limited editions, capped at a mere 88 pieces, convey a statement of exclusivity and craftsmanship. Elevating both aesthetics and comfort, each timepiece is paired with a vulcanized rubber strap (hardened through the use of heat and sulfur). They share a price tag of CHF 6,900, equivalent to AED 30,000.
