Introducing The New Rado Captain Cook x Tennis Limited Edition
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The ice blue off-center dial is adorned with guilloché decoration for the first time
Armin Strom made a significant breakthrough in 2016 with the debut of its innovative take on resonance, introducing the world to a revolutionary resonance clutch spring. This concept marked a milestone in horological engineering and was further refined in 2022 with the launch of the Mirrored Force Resonance.
Now, the brand presents the Mirrored Force Resonance Ice Blue, a captivating evolution of its patented technology, showcasing for the first time a sunray-patterned guilloché motif on its signature off-center dial.
The watch is housed in a 43 mm stainless steel case, featuring sapphire crystal on both the front and the caseback, each treated with anti-reflective coating to ensure maximum legibility and a clear view of the beautifully finished movement. With a thickness of 11.55 mm and a water resistance of 50 meters, the case offers both robust construction and refined proportions.
For the first time, the off-center dial is adorned with a traditional sunray guilloché pattern, crafted using a hand-operated rose engine lathe. Its radiant ice blue hue captures and reflects light in dynamic ways, offering a vibrant and richly textured view beneath the sapphire crystal. The polished, beveled indices and hands further elevate the elegance of the dial.
Positioned on the left side of the dial, the resonance mechanism takes center stage: two balance wheels oscillating in opposite directions, connected by Armin Strom’s patented resonance clutch spring. Two synchronized second counters provide a visual confirmation of the balances working in unison. The anthracite-colored bridges remain subtly in the background, highlighting the mechanical ballet unfolding above.
At the heart of the watch is the manually wound Caliber ARF21. This movement synchronizes two independent oscillators, each equipped with its own balance wheel and hairspring, via the brand’s patented clutch spring. This mechanism enhances precision and chronometric stability, a feature clearly visible through the twin seconds counters. A pusher at 2 o’clock resets the counters, allowing the wearer to witness the synchronization process in real time, proof of the resonance mechanism’s functionality.
Beating at a frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour), the movement offers a power reserve of 48 hours. The reverse side reveals a beautifully finished movement through the sapphire crystal caseback, with various decorative techniques on display. Each watch is meticulously assembled twice to ensure both mechanical accuracy and exceptional finishing.
The Mirrored Force Resonance Ice Blue is paired with a dark blue Alcantara strap featuring white stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle. It is a limited edition of just 15 pieces, priced at CHF 78,000, which is approximately AED 361,000.
