Introducing The Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface

A unique piece that combines the minute repeater, split-seconds chronograph, and the tourbillon

Vacheron Constantin is releasing the Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface, presenting a one-of-a-kind timepiece that unites three of watchmaking’s most coveted complications, minute repeatersplit-seconds chronograph, and tourbillon, within a contemporary, open-worked architecture.

The latest addition to the Les Cabinotiers series continues the tradition of highly complicated, single-piece editions. The case is crafted from 5N pink gold and measures 45mm in diameter, with a refined thickness of 15.1mm. It’s paired with a sapphire crystal protecting the dial and a transparent sapphire caseback, offering an unimpeded view into the horological labyrinth within. The timepiece maintains a modest 30 meters of water resistance.

The dial is machined from 0.5mm-thick sapphire, featuring alternating polished and frosted surfaces, grey (NAC)-treated indices, and inked chronograph markers. A 30-minute counter sits at 2 o’clock, framed by gold-metallised rings, while olive-green PVD-coated aluminium hands add a burst of contrast. At 6 o’clock, the tourbillon is visible, housed in a Maltese cross-shaped cage and regulated by a rare spherical hairspring. A small seconds hand is mounted directly on its axis.

Powering the watch is the manual-winding Calibre 2757 S, an evolution of the calibre introduced by the brand in 2022. This new version boasts 696 components, beats at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz), and offers a 50-hour power reserve, even with the chronograph in operation.

The chronograph is controlled by two pushers, one at 2 o’clock for the standard start-stop-reset functions, and another at 4 o’clock for the split-seconds functionality. Two column wheels ensure smooth engagement of each function. The chronograph hands are crafted from lightweight aluminium to reduce energy loss, while advanced materials such as titanium, nickel-phosphorus, and silicon optimize friction and performance.

The minute repeater features a silent centripetal flying strike governor, designed to regulate the tempo of the chimes while eliminating mechanical noise. This governor is a spectacle in itself, engraved with the initials “JMV” in tribute to the brand’s founder, Jean-Marc Vacheron, and held in place by a polished semi-circular bridge that alone required eight hours of hand-finishing. The watch is fitted with a green alligator leather strap and is a unique piece, with the price available upon request.
