Overseas Tourbillon in a new look, studded with stunning baguette cut pieces
Vacheron Constantin is a renowned Swiss watch manufacturer with a rich history dating back to 1755 when it was founded by François Constantin, along with Jean-Marc Vacheron in Geneva, Switzerland. The company has the distinction of being the oldest continually active watch manufacturer. In 1977 the brand introduced the iconic “Historiques 222”, commemorating the 222nd anniversary of the Swiss watchmaker. The "222" was a vintage luxury wristwatch that epitomized the aesthetic and technical characteristics of sports watches. This timepiece, with its bold design, has continuously evolved, becoming a symbol of Vacheron Constantin's commitment to excellence.
In 2016, the Overseas collection redefined Vacheron Constantin’s spirit, reflecting a sense of travel and exploration. The Overseas Tourbillon was introduced at SIHH 2019, marking a new addition to the Overseas collection. It comes in a stainless steel case measuring 42.50 mm in diameter with a slim 10.39mm profile. Notably, it houses Vacheron Constantin's ultra-slim tourbillon calibre 2160, the brand's first-ever automatic tourbillon movement. Now, the brand released the “Overseas Tourbillon High Jewellery” with an 18K white gold case distinguished by its bezel set with 60 baguette-cut diamonds for the first time.
The new timepiece is crafted from 18k white gold, remaining faithful with its dimensions to its predecessors captivating us with its design. Surrounding the sapphire crystal is a bezel adorned with a stunning display of 60 baguette-cut diamonds, elevating the watch's allure. The transparent sapphire crystal caseback provides a glimpse into the intricate inner workings, with a screw-down crown, this timepiece is water-resistant up to 50m. Notably, the soft-iron casing ring ensures anti-magnetic protection.
The brass blue lacquer dial boasts a beautiful sunburst finish. Accentuating its allure are 18k white gold hour markers adorned with 9 placed baguette-cut diamonds, infusing a touch of opulence. The hour and minute hands, also crafted in 18k white gold, are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring enhanced visibility in any lighting conditions. At 6 o'clock position, the tourbillon takes center stage, commanding attention with a hand mirror-polished bridge that features a small seconds counter.
Powering this timepiece is the ultra thin VC calibre 2160 measuring 31mm diameter x 5.65mm thickness, an automatic movement with a 22k gold peripheral gold rotor. It boasts 80 hours of power reserve, and operates at 18,000vph (2.5Hz). This movement is decorated with hand-beveled bridges adorned in Côtes de Genève.
