The New Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar

Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 collection was Patek Philippe’s first dedicated line of feminine timepieces. The original model featured an Art Deco-inspired manchette (cuff) design, but in 2018, the brand unveiled the Twenty~4 Automatic, which is a round-cased iteration powered by an automatic movement. This year, Patek Philippe elevates the collection further by introducing a perpetual calendar complication, marking the collection's debut in the realm of Grand Complications.
Crafted entirely in 18K rose gold, the watch features a 36mm case with a slender profile of just 9.95mm, making it sit gracefully on the wrist. The case is meticulously finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Two dial options are available. The Ref. 7340/1R-001 features a silvery opaline dial with a vertical satin finish, evoking the texture of shantung silk that feature irregular texture, while the Ref. 7340/1R-010 presents an olive green sunburst dial for a more contemporary appeal.

Introducing Jean-Claude and Pierre Unveil Their Second Collection

Biver Automatique, Time-Only Watches with a Slimmer Profile

During our last meeting with Mr. Jean-Claude Biver, he gave us an exclusive preview, confirming that a new collection would be released in a 39 mm case size, priced in the range of USD 85,000. And now, that moment has arrived. with the second collection from Biver watches.

Jean-Claude Biver, along with his son, has officially launched the second model in their lineup: the Biver Automatique. This new three-hand, time-only watch stands in contrast to the previous Carillon Tourbillon editions. The Biver Automatique is offered in two versions: the “Standard” and the “Atelier Series.” While both share the same movement and design, the key difference lies in their dials.

The case size has been reduced from 42 mm to 39 mm, with a slim thickness of just 10 mm. Available in either Platinum (Pt 950) or 18k rose gold, the new Biver Automatique retains the hallmark DNA of the brand's first release, featuring elegantly soldered lugs, while a polished, concave bezel accentuates the thin profile of the watch, highlighting the sapphire crystal and dial. The watch is also water-resistant up to 80 meters.

As mentioned, the collection comes in two editions: the Standard and the Atelier Series. The main difference between the two lies in the dials.

The Standard models feature solid-gold dials that match the case metal. These gold dials are beautifully finished with circular and vertical brushing. The outer minute track is raised and angled, typically featuring a minute scale in relief. The applied indices are crafted from 18k gold with anthracite finish, while the hands are meticulously finished with straight graining on their tops and polished edges, much like finely crafted movement components.

In contrast, the Atelier Series will be produced in limited numbers for a fixed period. These watches boast mineral stone dials, either frosted obsidian or Pietersite. While the stone dials share the sector design of the gold dials, they forgo the raised minute track, featuring baton indices throughout.

Powering these watches is the new JCB-003 automatic caliber, developed in collaboration with Dubois-Dépraz. The JCB-003 movement features hour and minute hands, along with a zero-reset center seconds hand. When the crown is pulled to set the time, the seconds hand resets to zero, allowing for precise synchronization with an external time reference.

The movement operates at a frequency of 25,200 vph (3.5 Hz) and offers a 65-hour power reserve. It is equipped with a 22k gold micro-rotor, adorned with hand-made guilloché. The bridges are finished with a rich, clous de Paris guilloché pattern, applied by hand in the traditional way.

Completing the watch is a leather strap with either a platinum or rose gold pin buckle, or a five-row Biver bracelet, also available in platinum or rose gold. As for the prices, they are detailed as follows.

  • Platinum / Gold / Strap: CHF 78,000 (~AED 316,000)
