Two New Materials Enhance the Brand’s Most Complex Design
In the beginning of 2024, during LVMH Watch Week, Hublot unveiled a futuristic and radical new creation: the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium. This model marked the latest addition to the brand’s prestigious "Manufacture Piece" (MP) collection, a line that epitomizes Hublot’s high-horology innovation. With a design unlike anything seen before, case, movement, dial, and an entirely novel time display, the MP-10 Titanium challenged conventional watchmaking norms. Now, Hublot continues the saga with two new limited editions: one in black ceramic and the other in sapphire.
The case as its previous titanium edition measures 41.5 mm in width, 22.4 mm in thickness, and 54.1 mm from lug to lug, offering a bold yet wearable profile. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters. The new editions are crafted in either black ceramic or transparent sapphire, each showcasing a distinct personality.
A defining feature of the MP-10 is its dual-crown architecture. The prominent crown positioned at the top of the case is used exclusively for manual winding, while a discreet push-out crown on the caseback allows for time-setting.
The previous Edition
The dial retains the same design as the previous version, as Hublot used the same movement, which we previously explained in detail in this article where we reviewed the MP-10 Titanium.
The display, essentially an exposed section of the movement, comes in black for the ceramic model and grey for the sapphire edition. Despite its avant-garde design, reading the time is surprisingly intuitive. A vertical stack of four rotating rollers displays the hours and minutes, clearly marked with text and red pointers. Just beneath, a power reserve indicator shifts from green to red, offering a visual cue of the watch’s remaining energy. Further down, the seconds are displayed via a rotating disc set within the monobloc aluminum tourbillon cage, which is inclined at a striking 35 degrees.
At the heart of the MP-10 is the in-house Caliber HUB9013, a marvel of mechanical creativity. In place of a traditional oscillating rotor, the movement uses two vertical weights mounted on a vertical axis. As they shift with wrist motion, they generate energy to wind the watch. To ensure stability, Hublot has fitted the system with shock absorbers. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), the movement delivers a 48-hour power reserve and can also be wound manually via the crown at 12 o’clock.
The watch is paired with either a black or transparent rubber strap, fastened by a deployant buckle in titanium or ceramic, depending on the version. Availability is strictly limited: only 50 pieces of the Black Ceramic edition and 30 pieces of the Sapphire edition will be produced. The Black Ceramic version is priced at 300,000 CHF (approximately 1,305,600 AED), while the Sapphire edition is offered at 400,000 CHF (approximately 1,740,400 AED).
