A Diamond-Set Version Inspired by the Shadows and Phases of the Moon
Hermès began crafting watches in the late 1970s, creating timepieces with unique designs that blend tradition and exceptional craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s origins, Hermès designed watches that captured the essence of horses and the world of horsemanship. One of the most iconic collections to emerge from this heritage is the "Arceau" collection, first introduced in 1978. Known for its distinctive design, the "Arceau" collection stands out with its innovative shape, which was partially inspired by Hermès' deep connection to the equestrian world. The watch's design subtly incorporates elements reminiscent of horse tack, further cementing its status as a timeless symbol of elegance and craftsmanship in the world of haute horology. The brand is introducing one of the latest releases from the Arceau collection is the “Arceau Petite Lune”, a timepiece inspired by the lunar phases and eclipses, beautifully capturing the essence of celestial movement.
The watch comes in a striking 38mm stainless steel case, designed by Henri d'Origny, with a polished finish that exudes sophistication. A standout detail is the bezel, which is adorned with 99 brilliant-cut diamonds, arranged in a crescent shape that elegantly evokes the image of an eclipse, spanning from 8 to 2 o’clock.
The crown is set with a prominent rose-cut diamond, adding a touch of luxury. The case is protected by an anti-glare sapphire crystal and case-back, ensuring clarity and durability, and it offers water resistance up to 30 meters.
The dial of the watch is a breathtaking portrayal of the celestial wonders, designed to evoke the enchanting beauty of lunar phases and eclipses. It features a gradient blue lacquer that transitions from light to dark, creating a stunning chiaroscuro effect that mimics the interplay of light and shadow in the night sky. At the heart of the dial lies a deep abyss blue center, symbolizing the core of the eclipse, surrounded by a crescent-shaped arc of 15 diamonds that decrease in size as they stretch across the dial, evoking the gradual fading of light during an eclipse. Positioned between 10 and 11 o’clock, the moon phase aperture reveals a starry sky, with the moon’s shifting shape as it waxes and wanes. The skeleton rhodium-plated leaf hands add a touch of elegance while leaving the abyss blue center visible, enhancing the dramatic effect of the dial’s celestial theme.
The watch is powered by the Manufacture Hermès caliber H1837 movement, a mechanical self-winding caliber crafted in Switzerland. This sophisticated movement boasts a power reserve of 42 hours and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), ensuring precise and reliable timekeeping. Comprising 193 components, the movement is finely decorated with a circular-grained mainplate, satin-brushed bridges, and a rotor featuring the signature "sprinkling of Hs" motif, showcasing Hermès' commitment to aesthetic refinement.
It comes with an abyss blue alligator strap, and stainless steel pin buckle, and the price will be upon request.
