Celebrating 13 Years of Partnership with the Swiss Air Rescue Specialist
Hamilton marks its 13-year partnership with Air Zermatt Mountain Rescue Services by unveiling an exclusive boutique edition of the Hamilton Khaki Aviation X-Wind Auto Chrono. Designed specifically for the helicopter pilots of Air Zermatt’s rescue team, this exceptional timepiece exemplifies the precision, durability, and innovation essential for life-saving missions.
The watch boasts a robust stainless steel case with a black PVD coating, measuring 45mm in diameter and 14.85mm in thickness. Its distinctive design features “inverted controls,” with the main crown positioned at 9 o’clock, flanked by two chronograph pushers.
Additional crowns at 2 and 4 o’clock operate dual inner bezels, which, in conjunction with the outer rotating bezel, enable precise calculations of cross or drift winds, a critical function for pilots in high-stakes rescue operations. The case back proudly displays the Air Zermatt logo and offers water resistance up to 100 meters.
The black sunray dial presents a functional and visually striking layout. It features a tri-compax configuration with three vertically aligned subdials: a 12-hour counter at 12 o’clock, running seconds at 3 o’clock, and a 30-minute counter at 6 o’clock. A day-date display is positioned at 9 o’clock.
Bold Arabic numerals and syringe-shaped hands filled with Super-LumiNova ensure optimal readability in low-light conditions. Accents in orange, the signature color of Air Zermatt, adorn the chronograph center seconds hand and other dial elements, paying homage to the helmets worn by Air Zermatt’s dedicated pilots.
At the heart of the watch is the automatic Caliber H-21-Si movement, based on the Valjoux 7750. This dependable mechanism features a silicon balance spring for enhanced resistance to magnetism, operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and delivers an impressive 60-hour power reserve.
The timepiece is complemented by a black nylon Velcro strap with orange stitching and the phrase “Ready for Take Off.” An additional black leather strap is included for versatility.
Available exclusively at the Hamilton boutique in Zermatt, the watch is priced at 1,995 CHF, approximately 8,200 AED.
