Introducing Biver Unveils The Signature Series, Marking a New Chapter For Carillon Tourbillon Collection

A New Dial Design Focused on Simplicity, Concealing the Tourbillon Beneath

The Carillon Tourbillon was the very first creation from the Biver brand, launched in March 2023. From the beginning, the team began exploring different ways this archetype could express the brand’s artistic vision of watchmaking. This experimentation led to multiple iterations featuring various dials, including hard stone, intricate engravings, and openworked designs that reveal the mesmerizing mechanisms beneath.

More recently, the Biver atelier took an even bolder step with the introduction of a guilloché mother-of-pearl dial, meticulously hand-decorated. You can read our full review of that unique edition in The Carillon Tourbillon Desert Rose.

Across all these interpretations, one element remained consistent, the tourbillon at six o’clock, with its distinctive cage and dramatic bridge. But that changes with the latest release, as Biver unveils two new expressions, the Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series Two-Tone and the Signature Series Titanium, which adopt a more restrained aesthetic without sacrificing mechanical sophistication or artistic excellence.

Both versions retain the same case dimensions as previous editions, 42mm in diameter and 13.7mm thick, crafted with sapphire crystals on both the front and back, and water-resistant to 50 meters. The models are available in full titanium or in a two-tone combination of titanium and rose gold.

The full titanium model embraces a monochromatic aesthetic, with the case, dial, and bracelet all in matching grey tones. The two-tone version, meanwhile, incorporates rose gold for the bezel, crown, and minute repeater pusher, as well as for the central links of the bracelet and the pin buckle, adding warmth and elegance to the otherwise modern design.

The dial, inspired by the Automatique edition, particularly the golden dial variant, offers a streamlined look that conceals the high complication within. At first glance, the watch resembles a time-only model, similar in appearance to the smaller 39mm Automatique, despite the Carillon Tourbillon’s larger 42mm diameter a difference barely noticeable thanks to the balanced proportions.

The only visible clues to the complexity beneath are the minute repeater slide on the left side of the case and the absence of the central seconds hand, which previously topped the tourbillon cage. Now, the tourbillon and its stunning bridge architecture remain hidden beneath the dial.

The dial itself comes in two variations: a two-tone grey, blending white gold with titanium, and another in titanium and rose gold. While both versions are technically two-tone, the difference lies in the metals used.

The center of the dial is vertically brushed, while the applied hour markers and minute track (chemin de fer) are crafted in white gold. The minute track is also brushed, and the indices and hands are hand-beveled, showcasing four sharp interior angles, hallmarks of traditional haute horlogerie finishing.

“The Carillon Tourbillon with a closed dial is a celebration, highlighting both a reference that has defined so much of the brand’s DNA and the neoclassical beauty of the Automatique’s unique gold dials,” says CEO James Marks. “Visually, the watch feels smaller and more classical in its architecture, appealing to collectors who appreciate the stealth nature of this grand complication. It’s a very personal watch.”

At the heart of this masterpiece is the Biver Calibre JCB-001-B, the brand’s inaugural movement, developed in collaboration with the renowned movement atelier Le Cercle des Horlogers. This iconic caliber powers most Carillon editions and is a showcase of horological artistry and mechanical performance.

Measuring 34mm in diameter and 7.1mm in height, the movement beats at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and offers an impressive 72-hour power reserve. It features a platinum micro-rotor that ensures smooth and efficient winding, while preserving the aesthetic openness of the movement.

Comprising 374 meticulously hand-finished components and 44 jewels, the movement reflects the highest standards of Swiss watchmaking. The gongs are polished to perfection. The white gold bridges display a fine grained finish and hand-beveled edges. The chatons fashioned from yellow gold, contrasts beautifully with the platinum micro-rotor, which is adorned with a golden coating. The result is a harmonious interplay of textures, colors, and materials.

This exceptional timepiece is paired with a five-link bracelet and is available either in full titanium or in a two-tone combination of rose gold and titanium. It is secured by a folding clasp in either 18K gold or titanium. Both versions are offered at the same price:475,000 CHF, approximately 2,163,280 AED.
