Following its revival, the Skindiver Chronograph is back in two limited editions
Though often best known for the iconic Cricket alarm watch, Vulcain’s legacy dives far deeper. The brand played a notable role in the golden era of mechanical tool watches, particularly throughout the 1960s. One standout model was the Skindiver Nautique, an essential part of the brand’s vintage dive watch arsenal. But what many didn’t know is that Vulcain also developed a chronograph variant of the Skindiver, which remained buried in its archives, until now.
Thanks to the rediscovery efforts led by Guillaume Laidet, head of Vulcain’s product development since 2022, this historic Skindiver chronograph has returned this year, and today the brand is releasing the Skindiver Chronograph Saumon & Meteorite.

The case is crafted from vertically brushed 316L stainless steel, maintaining a compact profile at 39.7mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness. Designed to echo vintage proportions while embracing modern robustness, the watch is topped with a domed sapphire crystal and fitted with a knurled bidirectional bezel featuring a black ceramic insert. Water resistance is rated at 200 meters, and the caseback now features a sapphire crystal, offering a clear view into the watch’s mechanical heart.

What truly sets these new editions apart is their distinctive dial materials. One features a refined salmon dial, while the other showcases a raw meteorite dial, lending the piece a beautifully textured aesthetic. Both dials are paired with Super-LumiNova-coated indices and hands, in white or brown, for optimal visibility in low light. The chronograph functions are displayed via a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, accented in red or black depending on the version. Surrounding the dial is a tachymeter scale.

Powering the watch is the ETA 7753, an automatic caliber that operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and delivers a 42-hour power reserve. In addition to its performance, the movement has been aesthetically refined with Côtes de Genève on the bridges, perlage on the mainplate, and a brushed rotor engraved with the Vulcain logo, all visible through the open caseback.

Buyers can choose between a rubber strap ($2,850 ≈ AED 10,500) or a stainless steel bracelet ($3,140 ≈ AED 11,533) for the salmon version, and a rubber strap ($3,180 ≈ AED 11,700) or a stainless steel bracelet ($3,470 ≈ AED 12,800) for the meteorite version. Each watch is limited to just 100 pieces.
